FORMATION OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AUSTRALIA On 20 March 2008 the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, the Hon Anthony Albanese MP announced in Federal Parliament that the Government had agreed to the establishment of Regional Development Australia (RDA), based on the Area Consultative Committee (ACC) network. In the coming months a new Charter and Role for the former ACCs will be agreed with the intention that the new operation will commence on 1 January 2009. In the meantime, ACCs will be consulting in their regions on such things as the role and scope of RDA, linkages with other levels of government, governance matters, membership, appointment policies and processes, boundaries and numbers of RDA committees. REGIONAL PARTNERSHIPS GRANTS PROGRAM Following the Federal Budget brought down on 13 May 2008, the Central Coast of NSW ACC has been advised by the Government that no new Regional Partnerships applications will be accepted by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government and applications currently under assessment will not be considered for funding.
